THE Atlas, 30-60 South Lambeth Road

About The Atlas, 30-60 South Lambeth Road

Based on the site’s irregular geometry, wedged between the railway viaduct and South Lambeth Road, the triangular shape emerged as an unusual but efficient building form, responding to the diverse context of the existing and emerging neighbourhoods in the Vauxhall area. The project houses two main uses: a fitness suite with swimming pool facility, and student accommodation including 553 en-suite bedrooms with communal kitchen and lounge facilities, as well as amenity and service spaces. The building is  clad in varied terracotta tiles to achieve a speckled effect, referencing the richly textured brick buildings in the local conservation area to the south of the site.
