About GSK Maidenhead
GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK) is a British pharmaceutical company headquartered in Brentford, London. Established in 2000 by a merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham, GSK was the world's sixth largest pharmaceutical company as of 2015, after Pfizer, Novartis, Merck, Hoffmann-La Roche and Sanofi.

The Maidenhead factory runs 24/7 to supply toothpaste, mouthwash and creams to over 20 countries worldwide. The key processes used at the site involve raw material transfer (powders and liquids)/ mixing (shear thinning principles)/ product pumping and distribution/ packaging.

Century Lighting and GSK Maidenhead
Back in 2013 we were invited to GSK Maidenhead by their energy consultant. We were asked to look at their mouth wash facility as it was due to be upgraded and they were interested in LED technology and lighting control.

We gave them a full survey and solution which would give them total automation over the lighting system and reduce the lighting load considerably. We ran a mock up up of old and new fittings to demonstrate in real time what these savings were and also to support our findings from the survey that took place.

We are now completing our 4th major project to their fill and pack area in which we have used the same design principles throughout their buildings.
